Taylor and Pat make their pilgrimage to Chair 9 several times a year to get their fix of delicious oven-baked nachos and pizza.  The restaurant is a community staple in the small mountain town of Glacier. It's the last restaurant on Mount Baker Highway before the road enters the wilderness area, and it's almost always the couple's first stop after returning from a long hike. While there's no cell service in this area, Chair 9 does have WiFi so it's also a good place to go if you need to check your messages or make a call.

Why she loves it

"We've enjoyed a lot of fun nights at the bar, chatting with the locals and listening to music. But I mostly come here for the nachos."

Nooksack Falls is a great, quick pull-off earlier in the drive.

You can also catch glimpses of the Nooksack River along the way — from the highway, campgrounds and trails. Keep an eye out for bald eagles and salmon.

IMPORTANT: Pick up a Northwest Forest Pass ($5 a day or $30 a year) if you plan to stop along the drive. You'll need the pass to park in the Heather Meadows area.

The wedding venue sits right off Mount Baker Highway, one of several spectacular scenic drives in Whatcom County.

Head east and within less than an hour you'll reach Artist Point, one of the most beautiful alpine vistas in North America. It's Taylor and Pat's favorite place to soak in panoramic views without any effort, as the parking lot alone will take your breath away. It sits in an area called Heather Meadows, where several other stops are clustered together, including Picture Lake, the Fire and Ice Trail and the Heather Meadows Visitor Center

"I discovered this drive during one of my first months in Washington, and I remember screaming with excitement when I first noticed Mount Shuksan towering over the highway. This drive is the gateway to many of our favorite hiking trails but it's also my favorite place to go to find accessible and scenic spots to hang when I don't feel like breaking a sweat."

"This is the easiest and best way to see why this is our favorite part of the state. You'll get jaw-dropping views without even having to get out of your car."
