From college classmates to best friends, Taylor and Pat's 12-year journey together has been anything but ordinary.
A FaceTime Romance
They met in 2013 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where they both studied journalism. They would run into each other on campus — at WOUB Public Media, where they both worked, and at the many bars on OU's famous Court Street. Their romance didn't begin until after college.
For the first 7 years, Taylor and Pat were in a long-distance relationship. As much as they wanted to be in the same city, their career paths in journalism kept them apart. First, they dated while living in Cincinnati (Taylor) and Zanesville (Pat). Later, they moved on to Seattle (Taylor) and Cleveland (Pat).
Of course, the distance was hard. But thanks to FaceTime, they developed a connection so deep that they never questioned staying together. In between epic in-person reunions, they found creative ways to have "normal" moments as a couple. They synced up TV shows and watched them while on FaceTime. They planned virtual cooking nights. And most nights, they fell asleep with the phone still on. One of the added perks is they gained great communication skills as a couple. 😂
In May 2021, Pat FINALLY made the big move to join Taylor in Seattle. They've loved every moment together exploring this beautiful state with their two spoiled and very cool adventure dogs, Charlie and Dylan.

Who made the first move?
Pat made the first move when they returned to Ohio University for homecoming in October 2013. But Taylor, the most persistent person Pat knows, made sure they'd see each other again. Months before they made it official, she made him a powerpoint presentation with a very convincing pitch to hang out for a weekend in Pittsburgh.
Where was their first date?
They spent an amazing jam-packed weekend together in Pat's hometown of Pittsburgh. They went to a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game, a Justin Timberlake concert and a Steelers vs. Bengals NFL game. It was a great preview of the fun years ahead.
How did Pat propose?
Pat proposed on May 24, 2025 at Lowman Beach, which is just a short walk from their first apartment together in West Seattle. Taylor thought they were taking a weekend trip with another couple, and Pat suggested stopping at the beach to kill time before the ferry arrived. As they were admiring the Olympic Mountains and the perfect sunny day, Pat dropped down on one knee. Their friend, Michael, was hiding with his camera to capture the moment.
What's their favorite activity?
It's hard to pick just one. They have so much in common! They love taking spontaneous trips with the dogs to explore Washington's small towns and scenery. They love hiking. They love photography. They love listening to grunge rock, and they love binging addicting TV shows.
Who takes out the trash?
Pat is the trash man of the household... and the dish man and the dog man. But Taylor has her strengths. :)
What's a life goal of theirs?
They want to become homeowners! Taylor has a dream of living in a waterfront home with a dock, where they can keep their paddle boards and kayaks out all year.
What do they take pride in?
Their fully-stocked home gym. They're considering giving everyone a guest pass as a wedding favor. 😂
What's their favorite place?
Artist Point in Glacier, WA. It's less than an hour from their wedding venue so they hope you'll have a chance to spend time with them there, too.
